2007's first post

Wow, I've been really bad at updating my blog haven't I? Too many things were happening since my last post till now. I first went snowboarding over the Thanksgiving weekend with the Berkeley S'porean-M'sian Student Association (SMSA), and that was really fun. I went there knowing only 1 person, but got to meet all these new Berkeley people, and that was really nice. It's a pleasant change from Stanford where every Singaporean I meet is usually doing science or engineering or is a scholar. Plus everyone thought I was a freshman... haha :) They usually looked surprised when I told them I was a grad student, and a 3rd year one at that. They're a cool bunch, and they cooked up a big Thanksgiving dinner, turkey and all. Plus we played DDR, Puzzle Fighter and Taboo at night... so despite the lack of snow on the slopes, it was still really fun.

Most of my December was spent with the bf. He took leave and spent 3 weeks with me... so good. There's a lot to say about what we did over that break, but they're better described with pictures... so I'll leave that to the next post. Needless to say, it was lots of fun and getting back into work mode for 2007 was a little hard.

Of course, it's now already 2 weeks into 2007, so the momentum has come back and I'm back into work full-swing. Talking about swing... Swingtime rehearsals have started again and we're learning a new piece for the Viennese Ball on Feb 16. It's interesting and challenging and I'm looking forward to see how the whole thing falls together. Unfortunately I won't be performing it at the Ball, since I've got more important things to do........ like GO HOME FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!! Yes, I'm finally going to celebrate CNY with my family after 5 years of missing out on the celebrations. Dear friends, I'll be back in S'pore from FEB 15 to 25, so if you're going to be around then, do let me know! We should meet up! I'll have to start scheduling breakfast/lunch/dinner/supper meetings with people soon... haha. I'll most likely be in M'sia from Feb 16 to 20 to visit my relatives though, so any day other than those. The bf will be back for a week too, so it'll be a jam-packed 2 weeks.

Ok... gotta get back to work :P Happy belated Merry Christmas 2006 and Happy New Year 2007! Wishing all my friends and family the best of health, happiness and success!
