The start of Spring and St Patrick's Day
After a relatively short and pretty dry Winter, it's no surprise that Spring has hit Stanford (more than a week ago actually)! And my definition of Spring is when the flowers bloom. So the very first sign of Spring I'd seen was the appearance of bright orange poppies in the grass patches visible from my lab desk. Not much later, the cherry (or plum?) blossoms starting appearing on the bare trees that I pass on my bike ride to lab.
White cherry blossom-covered trees in MacFarland Court's parking lot (with Hoover Tower in the background).
Very pretty tree that I captured at sunset. I suddenly stopped my bike, back-tracked a little and whipped out my camera on my way home because the rays from the sunset turned the white blossoms a lovely yellow.
Close-up of the tree. If you look closely, you can see some young green leaves sprouting amongst the blossoms.
Last Friday was the eve of St Patrick's Day, so we all decided to wear green to lab to mark the occasion. Not everyone complied of course, so we only have photos of the "on" ones... haha.
Lori, Karine, Olivia and me. I also noticed that we had a blonde, red-head, brunette and black-haired (respectively) in the photo!
Olivia, Stacie and me wearing green in lab on the actual St Patrick's Day (Saturday). It was good luck that we were all in the lab at overlapping times. Must have been the lab leprechaun...
In other news, I've started knitting again. Finally started working on a small bag for Hannie that I'd promised her last year. I think it's turning out a lot smaller than I'd expected because I'm using a thinner yarn and needles than recommended by the pattern. Well, she said that it's fine as long as she can fit her handphone, ID cards and cash in it. Yah maybe, with a bit of cramming :P
I'm still dancing with Swingtime, but as it's finals week and Spring break, that's been put on hold for a bit. I did go for 4-hours of social dance on Friday night though, and that was a really good workout.
Alright, I'll leave off here (time to talk to the bf) and whet your appetites for more exciting photos in my next post (I hope). Ciao!
